At oddfish Media we are a team with a wide range of talents but one shared ambition—to do great work. Our team has extensive experience across all verticals of marketing; from traditional marketing like print, billboard, radio and TV advertising to the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing including SEM, SEO, PPC, social media marketing, motion and website design.
Peter started his career in the mid-80s at the NBN Television Network, where he worked on news and commercial production. He later transitioned to a Sales Executive role, where he worked closely with local clients across Northern NSW. In 2002, he founded his own agency, and in 2005, he collaborated with Darren to establish Oddfish Media. Peter enjoys an active lifestyle outside of work. When he is not occupied with business calls, he can often be found on the tennis court, or chasing after his dog Millie on the beach. As a devoted family man, Peter also cherishes spending quality time with his children.
Darren began his media career as an Account Manager with Channel 9 in Adelaide. He then transitioned to Channel 10 where he collaborated closely with agencies and direct clients across various TV and Radio platforms. Following his move to Sydney, Darren joined WIN/NBN, where he acquired extensive knowledge of the regional markets of Australia. In 2005 he co-founded OddfishMedia with Peter Odell. Three years later, in 2008, he established the company’s digital department, which primarily specializes in social media and search engine optimization (SEO) strategies. Darren’s lifestyle is characterised by a healthy work-life balance. He can often be found indulging in exquisite wine with friends, cycling through the lush hinterlands of the Central Coast, or savouring a fine dinner with his wife.
Simon launched his media career as a Sales Executive at Telecasters 10 in Hervey Bay, QLD in 2000. He then transitioned to Melbourne and worked as a Sales Executive for Radio Sport 927 & SEN 1116 and was the Racing & Sponsorship Manager at the Mornington Racing Club. In 2016 joined the WINNetwork, moving to Newcastle as the Sales Manager of Northern NSW, before joining Oddfish Media as the Manager of our Newcastle in 2020. Simon delivers outstanding results for our clients by creating impactful marketing campaigns that include both traditional and digital strategies. Simon is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending his free time engaging in various outdoor activities. He is a keen follower of all sports, coaches his son’s Under 8’s Rugby League team and is on the Committee of the Valentine Devils Junior Rugby League Club. Additionally, he has a notable passion for horses and is a member of the Newcastle Jockey Club.
Vicki is the ultimate powerhouse behind the scenes at Oddfish Media, keeping everything running like clockwork. From managing accounts and contracts to handling invoices and all the nitty-gritty details, she’s got it all under control. With over 35 years of experience in the accounting field, she’s the go-to guru for all things financial. But don’t be fooled by the numbers! Vicki is also a huge footy enthusiast who passionately cheers for the Parramatta Eels. When she’s not watching games, you will find her indulging in some fun activities with her adorable grandkids.
Mel is a true jack-of-all-trades and brings an unmatched level of organisation and efficiency to the agency. Starting in the media industry 16 years ago in Newcastle radio before conquering the world of agency giving her an edge in understanding media from both sides of the fence. She’s a skilled communicator, able to craft messages that resonate with target audiences with a wealth of experience under her belt, she’s become a master of all things media, managing accounts big and small. But wait, there’s more! Mel is the secret sauce of the agency, holding everything together and keeping everyone sane (mostly). And … she manages to do it all with just one coffee a day! On weekends, you’ll find Mel living her best life in the great outdoors, staying active and renovating her home. Or if you’re up early enough, you might even catch her crushing it at the CrossFit gym. This girl never stops!
Ethan is immersing himself in the complex world of media buying, focusing on both television and radio. He is currently studying for a Certificate 4 in Marketing and Communication at TAFE with a fierce determination to make his mark in the media industry. Ethan spends a significant amount of time in the office gaining valuable firsthand experience from our accomplished media leaders who are helping him refine his craft and develop his skills further. When not studying or working, you can find him at the gym staying active and healthy. Ethan also enjoys spending time with his friends taking a relaxing getaway with his girlfriend and their loved puppy
After starting her career as a print designer, Kathy has since expanded her skill set to include digital design, video editing, and 2D and 3D animation. With a wealth of experience working for various agencies in Sydney before relocating to Newcastle, she has developed an extensive corporate and brand portfolio. Outside of work, Kathy enjoys spending time playing Dungeons and Dragons with her family and friends, immersing herself in imaginative worlds and honing her storytelling abilities.
Meet Airene, one of our esteemed team members at the agency. With over ten years of experience working as an accountant for various companies, Airene brings a wealth of knowledge to our digital team. Not only does she possess IT qualifications, but she also contributes analytical and mathematical skills to help our team thrive. When she’s not working, Airene enjoys indulging in her hobbies, which include watching Korean dramas and baking
Introducing Alex, a sales superstar who’s been slinging products and services like a pro for years. With a background in media, finance, and digital lead generation, he’s a jack of all trades when it comes to closing deals.
Blake is an expert in all digital platforms and has an impressive array of certifications across the digital landscape. He brings his extensive experience from working at top-tier digital agencies throughout Sydney to his current role as the Head of the Digital department at Oddfish, having joined the company in 2018. Outside of work, Blake enjoys playing soccer and excelling with his team. He also cherishes spending time tasting wines in the countryside and exploring new travel destinations both near and far.
With over ten years of experience in digital marketing, Alexander has a speciality in search marketing. His career began at a full-service agency in Sydney, where he found a passion for digital media. Alexander has worked with a diverse range of clients and industries throughout his portfolio. When he is not analysing data and keywords at his desk, he can be found working on his trailer and preparing for his next camping adventure with his wife, daughter and two delightful dogs–Diesel and Cooper.
Meet Augusto, the self-taught, data-driven marketing guru with over 13 years of experience in SEM and Digital Marketing. He’s the Sherlock Holmes of marketing, using analytical skills to crack the case of any marketing challenge that comes his way. Augusto’s knowledge of Digital Marketing is so vast, it’s like he has a 360-degree view of the industry. Augusto’s client list spans the globe, from Brazil to New Zealand, Australia to the United States. When Augusto isn’t busy optimizing campaigns or analysing data, you can find him on the tennis court, serving up some serious game. He’s also a finance and economics enthusiast because apparently, just being a marketing genius isn’t enough.
Meet Vicky, our resident Creative Director hailing all the way from Argentina. With over a decade of experience in the creative and marketing industry, her work speaks for itself-it’s outstanding, creative and meticulously crafted. Vicky thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where she can juggle multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from graphic design and leading social media content strategies to styling shoots for our clients. Did we mention that Vicky is trilingual? That’s right, she’s fluent in Spanish, English, and German. But that’s not all-Vicky is also a skilled wood burning and illustration artist. When she’s not designing or creating art, you can find her soaking up the sun at the beach with her toddler or capturing stunning photos of the Central Coast and its local surfing community.
